About the Author
Born in 1985, Mr. Rex’s love and admiration for movies was shaped by an unusual array of 80s and early 90s cinema: Ghost Busters, Back to the Future, Home Alone, Jurassic Park, Miller’s Crossing… Beloved films that will go down in history as icons of the period.
Growing up in the small mountain town of Telluride, Colorado, Rob’s imagination was free to wander. Every year when the
Telluride Film Festival took root, his love for contemporary cinema found an interesting counterpart in the art-house, independent, and classic films screened yearly.
Anxious to make films of his own, Rob picked up a camera and started to make movies with his friends. In college at the University of California Santa Cruz, Rob needed an escape from film theory and critical studies and founded the Moxie Production Group, which organized dozens of students from all across campus in an effort to combine their ambitions and collaborate on vastly larger projects. Manning the front line in the battle between student filmmaking and every conceivable technical, financial, and creative setback, Rob found solace in the blank page.
Free to tell any story he wanted, screenwriting provided rewarding creative release. After earning his degree in Film & Digital Media, Rob took on a coveted internship with the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences while he continued to write feverishly, honing his voice and discovering his process. His unique screenplays have gone on to garner recognition and awards in a number of screenwriting competitions, including the Bronze Prize at the PAGE International Screenwriting Awards, Second Place at the Cinequest Film Festival, and Top Three Finalist at the Austin Film Festival.
